Help My Hair Extensions Are Making Me Look Like Hagrid!

Weve all been there girls- bought some clip in hair extensions for longer, thicker, glossy locks only for them to frazzle, split and give Hagrid a run for his money.

In the last few weeks I have been asked lots of questions about clip in hair extensions (not naming any names- Jen!) and I thought I would give you my guide to keeping them looking smooth and silky for longer.

Now this isnt a miracle cure and they still need replacing every few months (especially after a holiday in the sun), but follow these steps for washing them and you will be fine!

  • Before washing make sure that the extensions are all brushed to remove knots

  • ALWAYS use luke warm water, dont even think about using hot water or its game over girls!

  • Smooth an intensive conditioner through the hair from the roots to the tips. The TREsemme one is the best I have found, alternatively I use Alberto Balsam Intensive Conditioner with Honey and Almond extracts.

  • Leave this on overnight and rinse in the morning with luke warm water.  It is very important that you do not comb the hair while it is wet.

  • Now comes the strange part so make sure you dont expose your other half to this or you may well find yourself single!  You need to place the hair on the radiator in a long line until it is dry which can take a few hours at least- yes you will have a hairy radiator and you may get some odd looks but who cares!

  • When it is dry use a soft bristle brush to comb it through and smooth john frieda serum though the ends before straightening!

Cure Your Acne Naturally!

I have been delighted with the success of my first few blog posts!  I have told both friends and clients about my blog and they have all said 'well that makes sense'! It looks like I could actually be on to something here after all!

I have had a recent request to talk about skincare from my friend Kim and as it is something that has caused me much angst and upset over the years I thought it was a great idea.

Anyone who knows me will know that I have suffered with spots for many years.  Spending hundreds on the latest skincare products, sunbeds (dont try this at home!), facials, microdermabrasion kits and even trips to the doctors and nothing seemed to work for me until I went on some tablets called Roaccutane- otherwise known as the wonder drug!

Sure it worked at the age of 21 but my worst fears became realised when it gradually came back at  the age of 23 onwards.

I became sick and tired of the half hearted promises made by the top skincare lines and wondered if I would EVER cure my problem until............

I met a personal trainer called Guy Baker from Nottingham.

Now Guy began training me only a few months ago to give me 'a bum' which being a petite size 8 I have unfortunately always been lacking, but in revamping my diet and by training me, Guy actually solved a much more serious problem of mine- my skin!

Guy placed me on a diet consisting of four meals a day (yes four you did hear me right).  Now these meals were all a certain amount of protein/meat with a choice of two vegetables (mainly green) with each meal.

The diet alone did not cure my acne BUT it did help me to find the cause for my acne and a solution.  I stuck to the diet BUT not much happened to my skin, my body looked much leaner but my skin showed little difference to begin with until I had a major break out.

I had three days where I had lots of meetings, ate out and didn't stick to my diet and my face was angrier than ever before.  I went through all of the foods I had eaten over the course of the three days in question, and Guy suggested that I had a dairy allergy!

Turns out lots of people have this but are totally unaware of it until they adapt their diet accordingly.

Now I am not suggesting that this is the only thing going on here but Guy also suggested something else in addition to this that I believe has worked wonders.  He suggested I take five fish oil capsules a day and I take these in the morning.  In addition to this I now drink a cup of green tea first thing in the morning and last thing at night (I have developed quite a taste for this!).

Finally, after talking to Charlotte Price my make up artist and beautician friend who has long championed the benefits of sallcylic acid in skincare products, I started to look for a new product.

I have finally found my wonder product!

It is called 'Super Facialist By Una Brennan Tea Flower Deep Clean' and is available from Boots.

I have not had a new spot now for three weeks and my old marks are starting to fade I even got told today by a client that I am positively 'glowing'!!

Give it a try- what do you have to lose!!!

A few weeks ago I was approached by a lovely lady called Christine Beresford, founder of a new lingerie brand called Sexcsecrets and I was delighted when she asked me to model for her.

In all honesty, on the drive over to Doncaster from Nottingham I had no idea what to expect.  A room full of competing models, a make up artist I was unfamilar with (I have my own MUA called Charlotte Price who is fanastic- love you Charlotte!) and a set of garments that were totally new to me- but I had no need to worry!

One glance at the underwear and I was IN LOVE! The sets we were modelling were all sexy sleepwear sets consisting of babydoll nighties, matching thongs and corset style tops.

I had a fantastic day in the end, the models were great fun, the make up artist Iona was lovely. I even got to keep three sets of underwear!.  I was delighted when Christine made me the main model on the Sexcsecrets website it was a great honour!

It is very encouraging to see that more and more petite models are being selected for this sort of work- good job Christine!

Perfecting Those Skills......

It has taken about five years for me to start this blog at the request of my friends and co-workers.  I am a normal girl about town with a serious passion for shopping.  Over the last few years while many of my friends were having children, getting married and setting up home, I focussed my attention on starting a PR business, nurturing a part time modelling career and of course perfecting the ideal wardrobe, complete with designer shoes and handbags!

I started realising that whenever I went out I would get women asking where my latest handbag was from or commenting on my dress, I also realised that because of my chosen careers, I had been lucky enough to have some of the best make up artists and models share their own fashion and beauty secrets with me.

By all means I am no expert in this stuff, but I know what works and have some interesting ideas to share with you all!

Welcome to 'Never Too Busy To Be Gorgeous'!
